The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf) held a Familiarization Trip (PWP) in collaboration with the Indonesian Healthy Bone Association (Perwatusi) in Seribu Islands.

This activity was a part of an effort to strengthen the promotion of Jakarta's maritime tourism while increasing the exposure of premier destinations through collaboration with the media.
The series of activities commenced at the Baywalk Pluit Pier as the departure point toward Onrust Island and Payung Island.
Significant Drop in Newcomers to Seribu IslandsCarrying the concept of experience-based tourism, the activity featured explorations of destinations that blend historical value, natural beauty, and Jakarta’s maritime tourism potential.
Besides enjoying lunch, participants were given time to explore the destinations independently and document their travel experiences through photos, videos, and articles. These documentations are expected to serve as authentic and engaging promotional materials highlighting the charms of Seribu Islands.
Jakarta Disparekraf Head, Andhika Permata, stated that this activity provides firsthand experience regarding Jakarta’s maritime tourism potential while fostering awareness of the importance of coastal environmental conservation.
"This is expected to generate informative and inspiring publications, while simultaneously expanding the promotional reach of Seribu Islands to the general public," he explained, Monday (5/4).
He hopes it will increase public awareness of Jakarta’s maritime tourism potential—specifically Seribu Islands—as a destination that offers not only natural beauty but also historical richness and a diverse range of travel experiences.
"In the future, collaborations with various communities will continuously be strengthened to drive sustainable and competitive tourism growth," he added.
Notably, as one of the historic islands in Seribu Islands, Onrust Island houses various significant relics from the colonial era.
At this location, participants had the opportunity to tour historical sites and learn about the strategic role of Onrust Island as a shipyard, fortress, spice warehouse, logistics center, Haji quarantine area, infectious disease isolation site, and a prison for criminal and political prisoners in the past. This activity is part of the effort to strengthen Jakarta’s historical tourism narrative.
The journey then continued to Payung Island, specifically to the Asha Resort area. Here, participants joined a walking tour that included an exploration of the beach and conservation areas, including a shark and stingray pond.
