Head of the Pollution and Environmental Damage Control Section (PPKL) of the South Jakarta Environmental Sub-agency, Tuty Ernawati Sapardin, said that this activity is part of a series of air quality monitoring programs.
61 Vehicles Undergo Emission Tests at Rawa Buaya Terminal"In fact, South Jakarta already has emission testing points. All districts will implement them, and the schedule has been approved, with a target of 100 vehicles per district. Currently, only two districts are operating namely Kebayoran Baru and Tebet," she said, Tuesday (5/12).
In its implementation, Tuty explained, vehicles were still found that did not pass the emissions test due to the lack of awareness of vehicle owners regarding the impact of air pollution, regardless of how far the vehicle was used.
"I told residents that their vehicles still pollute the air even if they travel short distances. The polluted air we emit here can blow anywhere. So, even if they're used for short distances, they still pollute Jakarta's air," she explained.
Meanwhile, Head of Tebet District, Putut Puji Linangkung appreciated the emission test held today.
"This is an excellent way to ensure the vehicle's quality, whether it's been regularly serviced or not. If the inspection results are good, it's a good sign; if not, it may need to be upgraded," he stated.
The district had informed residents and employees about the activity several days before so that they could take advantage of the free emission testing service.
"Today, most of the vehicles belonging to employees and members at the district office have taken the emissions test in this activity," he added.
