East Jakarta LH Sub-agency Head Monang Sinaga said the activity was part of efforts to support the "Jakarta Blue Sky" Program while also helping control air pollution.

Free Emission Test Held in Tebet

"This emissions testing is carried out to improve air quality in East Jakarta. The program is conducted continuously every year at different locations," he said on Tuesday (5/12).

Monang explained that the free emissions testing was open to private vehicles as well as official vehicles belonging to employees within and around the East Jakarta Mayor's Office.

According to him, the 103 vehicles tested consisted of 46 motorcycles, 37 cars, and 20 diesel-powered vehicles.

"The results showed that 11 vehicles failed the emissions test, consisting of four cars and seven motorcycles. We advised the owners to have their vehicles serviced immediately," he noted.

He added that up to 1,200 vehicles are targeted to participate in emissions testing at various locations across East Jakarta this year. To achieve the target, emissions testing will be held every two months through a mobile service system.

"The locations will rotate, ranging from the mayor's office and sub-district offices to sports centers," he added.

Monang urged residents to regularly conduct emissions tests on their vehicles as part of efforts to improve air quality and ensure vehicles remain in good condition.

"We encourage vehicle owners to pay attention to their vehicle emissions conditions and use appropriate fuel to support the 'Jakarta Blue Sky' Program and help maintain air quality," he emphasized.

Meanwhile, one vehicle owner, Suryono, said he learned about the free emissions testing service through social media.

"This allows me to find out the condition of my vehicle. I appreciate the East Jakarta Environment Sub-agency for providing this free emissions testing service," he said.
