"They are given motivation and education to be more optimal in carrying out supervision," he said, Monday (5/18).

He explained that all Yellow Troop personnel were asked to increase surveillance, especially at night while monitoring street lights that went out.

"Thefts are suspected to often occur in areas with minimal residential areas, such as along the East Flood Canal," he explained.

According to him, his side will also write to the East Jakarta Mayor and the East Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) requesting additional oversight support. This measure is expected to strengthen security for government assets under the supervision of the East Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency.

"It is hoped that supervision will be stronger so that personnel are more enthusiastic and feel they have support from the relevant units," he added.

Meanwhile, Sub-agency's Head of the City Utilities Infrastructure and Public Street Lighting Section, Yanuar Ikhsan stated currently, there are 112 Yellow Troop personnel deployed to monitor the condition of street lights and anticipate theft and vandalism.

"This number consists of 32 personnel from the East Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency Task Force and 80 personnel from 10 districts, with each district putting eight personnel on standby," he stated.

According to him, until now, it has been recorded that 97 units of 90 watt street lights have been stolen in the KBT Ujung Menteng and Pulo Gebang areas, Cakung District.

Of this number, 51 lamps were reinstalled on April 24, starting from the Ujung Menteng Bridge area to the Rorotan border, North Jakarta.

Meanwhile, the other 46 units are spread across two locations, namely 40 units on Jalan Baru or the west side of Jalan Inspeksi KBT, Ujung Menteng Urban Village, and six units on Jalan Inspeksi KBT, Pulo Gebang Urban Village.

Of the six units, all have been reinstalled so that currently there are still 60 PJU lamps that have not been installed and are planned to be installed by the Jakarta Public Works Agency.

Not only street lights, but several electrical panel components were also reported missing due to theft. Some of the affected locations include Jalan Laksamana Malahayati, Jalan Pemuda, and Jalan Basuki Rahmat.

"We also ask for the public's participation in maintaining public facilities and immediately reporting to officers if there are any acts of crime or vandalism," he appealed.
