South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Head, Bernad Octavianus Pasaribu stated that the violations addressed include illegal parking, public transport roadworthiness, vehicle load violations, and various other traffic infractions.
"This is part of our efforts to maintain traffic order and raise public awareness regarding the impacts resulting from violations committed by road users," he expressed, Wednesday (6/3).
Jakarta Provincial Government Supports the Eradication of Illegal ParkingAccording to him, the issuance of Inspection Records (BAP) constituted the highest number of enforcement actions, with 547 recorded cases.
"Our men also handled 379 public transportation offenses, 205 tire deflation sanctions (OCP) against two-wheeled vehicles, 146 towing enforcement actions with warning letters (SP), 32 OCP for private cars, 21 Dishub-certified tows, and seven OCP for bajaj," he explained.
He further noted that the operation was implemented through a joint effort with the army and police to bolster the effectiveness of enforcement measures in the field.
"As for the BAP citations, some were processed by the police in line with existing legal provisions," he noted.
Further, April was the peak month for enforcement, totaling 425 cases. Specifically, these comprised the tire deflation of 99 motorbikes and 12 cars, 47 instances of towing with warning letters, 11 citation-based tows by Dishub, 141 inspection reports (BAP) issued by the Transportation Agency, and 115 penalties against the public transportation.
"The enforcement figures for the preceding months were recorded as follows: 275 cases in January, 282 in February, 124 in March, and 231 in May," he explained.
Consequently, the agency will continue to intensify surveillance and enforcement at several hotspots for traffic violations, including congested zones and locations frequently used for illegal parking.
"We will continue to step up monitoring at several violation-prone points in South Jakarta, including high-traffic areas and illegal parking sites," he added.
So, the public is urged to strictly adhere to traffic laws for the sake of maintaining collective safety, order, and comfort, especially in the use of social and public amenities.
"We hope that the measures taken provide a deterrent effect, fostering a more orderly, tidy, and comfortable environment in South Jakarta for every road user," he asserted.
