This is a space for the public to discover the richness of Indonesia's biodiversity
This year’s theme, ‘Akar Nusantara Bertumbuh di Jakarta’ (Nusantara's Roots Growing in Jakarta), highlights the city's commitment to staying connected with nature. According to M. Fajar Sauri, Head of Jakarta Parks and City Forests Agency, the festival aims to be an educational platform as much as a visual spectacle.
“This is a space for the public to discover the richness of Indonesia's biodiversity and learn about the environment. It also builds awareness that green open spaces and nature conservation are vital components of urban life,” he expressed, Thursday (8/20).
Opening the Flona 2025 Exhibition, Pramono Commits to Making Jakarta GreenThe festival is designed to be a unique intersection where nature meets community creativity and traditional wisdom—all set against the backdrop of Jakarta’s urban greenery.
According to Fajar, this year’s theme highlights Jakarta's role as a 'growth hub' for Indonesia’s natural diversity. It bridges the gap between the modern city and the rich heritage of the archipelago.

FLONA 2026 is more than just a festival; it is part of Jakarta’s grand journey toward its 500th anniversary. The event reflects the city’s ambition to become a world-class green metropolis that honors its traditional roots while embracing a sustainable future.
"It aims to inspire everyone to help create a Jakarta that is not only green and healthy but also inclusive for all," Fajar continued.
He encouraged residents to make it a family affair, highlighting the festival as a perfect blend of learning and leisure.
"We’re calling on all Jakartans to come out and play. Bring your kids and your best friends to explore the beauty of our national flora and fauna. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and gain new insights in the most enjoyable way possible," he added.
With an ambitious target of over 70,000 attendees, FLONA 2026 is set to be a bustling hub of activity. Visitors can look forward to a diverse range of attractions, from flora and fauna markets and vibrant bazaars to mouth-watering culinary delights and creative installations.
