Jakarta Provincial Government to Thoroughly Investigate CCTV Vandalism

The Jakarta Provincial Government deplores the vandalism of public facilities that occurred during the protest on Thursday (8/27) evening.

We will certainly take further action

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung has instructed the Head of Jakarta Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Agency (Diskominfotik) to thoroughly investigate the perpetrators and the vandalism.

"Regarding the vandalism of the CCTV, I will certainly ask the Head of the Diskominfotik Agency to investigate who committed the act and what their motive was," said Pramono, Friday (8/28).

The Governor emphasized that the Jakarta Provincial Government would take firm action against those responsible for damaging public facilities owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government.

"We will certainly take further action," he added.

Pramono has repeatedly stated that the Jakarta Provincial Government respects the public's right to voice their aspirations. This demonstration is permitted as part of the democratic process.

"However, if acts of destruction, anarchy, and the like ensue, certainly no part of society would support that," he emphasized.

The Governor stated that he had received reports from his staff regarding this issue. Officials from the Jakarta Provincial Government continue to cooperate with the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) to monitor the situation.

He also confirmed that the Jakarta Provincial Government is responding quickly to clean up the debris and damage resulting from the protest.
