Water Channel Construction on Jalan Turi Reaches 50 Percent

The South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency has begun construction of a new water channel on Jalan Turi, RT 14/03, Lenteng Agung Urban Village, Jagakarsa District, South Jakarta. Construction has now reached 50 percent completion.

Head of Jagakarsa District's Water Resources Unit, Sartono said the construction of the water channel was a follow-up to a direct proposal from residents and received attention from legislators from the Jakarta City Council.

He explained that the new water channel is constructed stretching 194 meters along both sides of the road. The work involves 12 Blue Troop personnel, assisted by an excavator to ease the process.
According to him, to maximize water storage capacity, the channel is made using a 40 x 40 centimeter U-ditch.
"We have been working on the project for the past two weeks and are targeting completion at the end of this month, or an estimated 45 days of work," he explained.
Meanwhile, one of the local residents, Selamet Santoso appreciated the South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency for realizing the channel construction.
"Before the drainage channel is being constructed, the access road frequently flooded during rainy seasons. We hope the work will proceed smoothly and on time so that the drainage can function optimally during the rainy season," he admitted.
