Keeping Jakarta Moving, Fresh Funds Eyed for Next-Phase LRT Expansion

Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Commission C Chairman Dimaz Raditya is super pumped about the fresh LRT Jakarta route running from Kelapa Gading all the way to Manggarai. He is hoping this new line makes getting around the city way easier while linking up Jakarta’s transit spots like a charm.

Thankfully, it’s officially launched by Mr. Pramono and the President.

For him, bringing the LRT to Manggarai is a total game-changer for the capital's transit web. He’s also pushing to keep the momentum going so future expansion plans stay right on track.

"Thankfully, it’s officially launched by Mr. Pramono and the President. Fingers crossed this new route makes life a whole lot easier for everyone in Jakarta," he expressed, Thursday (9/17).

He is super hyped to see every next phase of the LRT actually happen, blowing the transit map wide open so way more Jakartans can reap the perks.

"Honestly, I really hope this is just the beginning for the LRT. I’m so ready to see every single piece of the master plan fully come to life,” he added.

He pointed out that pushing the LRT further from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas calls for fresh funding. To make it happen, the Jakarta government is eyeing municipal bonds as a clever way to bankroll the next leg.

"Financially, we definitely need a boost to keep rolling. For Phase 1C from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas, we're actively exploring bond issuance as a solid fix to fund the extension," he explained.

Beyond municipal bonds, Dimaz believes future MRT and LRT expansions should tap into creative funding alternatives—like back-up from Danantara—so local tax dollars are not stuck carrying the whole load.

"Looking ahead, we really want to shake up how we fund these MRT and LRT projects so we aren't just relying on the city budget. Whether it's bonds, Danantara, or other fresh options, we've got to think outside the box," he stressed.
