Prone to PMKS Areas in East Jakarta Secured by Officers

East Jakarta Social Affairs Department placed 13 officers to secure areas prone to people with social welfare problems (PMKS). This strategy is more effective to block their movement.

“The area most prone to PMKS in East Jakarta is PGC junction in Cililitan. Other areas are Pondok Kopi, Jatinegara, and Halim Perdanakusuma junction,” told Head of East Jakarta Social Affairs Department, Masyudi, Monday (5/5).
According to Masyudi, officers in uniforms are placed in turn to secure those locations. Their job is to dispel PMKS using persuasive ways. Thus, the streets would be sterile from PMKS presence.
More Than 300 PMKS in N. Jakarta NettedHead of East Jakarta Social Affairs Service and Rehabilitation Section, Mohamad Yasin, stated that supervision is conducted to control the presence of PMKS like beggars, thugs, and street kids, who are quite a lot in East Jakarta. Until this month, as many as 395 PMKS have been netted. They consist of beggars, cadgers, commercial sex workers, etc.
“The most netted PMKS is beggar, reaching 131 people,” he said.
Afterwards, the netted PMKS were sent to social institutions. There, they are given guidance and soft skills.
