North Jakarta Water Management Sub-dept Head, Herning Wahyuningsih disclosed dredging that took place over 1.5 months is aimed to solve inundation problem that often hit the channel.
"Inundation always happens when it rains. That's why we do dredging from the upstream and its downstream, precisely at Bahari Park and Tirem River. The mud high is almost as high as the channel," she told, Saturday (8/6).
According to her, the channel deep is varied, from 80 cm-120 cm. Due to mud, the channel experienced shallowing. Thousands of sacks prepared to pick up the mud.
"We do this manually. Hopefully, the channel can accommodate water well and will be free from inundation in future," she finished.
