Dengue Fever Case in West Jakarta Increasing Sharply

The case of dengue fever in West Jakarta keeps increasing day by day. Based on West Jakarta Health Sub-Department data, as many as 1,101 cases had been happened along January until now. The amount increases sharply since along January-March there were only 603 cases.

There was an increase of 498 cases in the period of April to May 5, 2014,” stated Head of West Jakarta Health Sub-Department, Widyastuti, Friday (5/9).

According to Widyastuti, those 1,101 cases happened in eight sub-districts, namely Cengkareng, Kalideres, Tambora, Kebon Jeruk, Tamansari, Palmerah, Kalideres, and Kembangan. Cengkareng becomes the sub-district with most dengue fever case happened in the amount of 265 cases, followed by Kembangan 245 cases, and Kalideres 188 cases.

“The other three sub-districts are relatively stable with only less than 100 cases happened,” she told.

Especially for the first three sub-districts, Widyastuti added, her sub-department will intensively conduct socialization on how to eradicate mosquito larvae.

“But, the most important thing is that the residents must apply healthy lifestyle by diligently cleaning up their neighborhood,” she asserted.
