North Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-dept, Satriadi Gunawan disclosed, besides monitoring and collecting data, the team is also sent to give appeals and guidance to building owners or employers in question related to fire prevention and suppression.

"Prevention is better than handling. Each sector has a certified inspector whose function is to record, monitor and encourage," he disclosed, Tuesday (8/23).

They appeal the owner to equip each floor of at least two units of portable fire extinguisher (APAR) and do not install windows with iron bars, because it will be needed as a way out if at any time the fire was surrounded.

"We'll remain check the APAR. Don't install iron bars on all windows and then duplicate the key. Should prioritize security or safety also not be forgotten," he said.

He added, the results of the examination and the data collection will be integrated with a digital map that is currently being developed thus can simplify operation of fire management.
