Weekend Holiday, Tens of People Flocked to Gajah Museum

The weekend holiday is really used by tens of Jakarta residents and family to visit recreational sites in the capital. One of them is an Elephant Museum which located on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta, Saturday (5/17).

Elephant Museum Caretaker, Sutrisno said that until Saturday (5/17) noon, the amount of visitors is reaching 20,000 people. It is predicted to keep increasing until afternoon about 50,000 people.
"Of the 20,000 visitors, 1,000 out of them are foreign tourists," he expressed.
Sutrisno stated the most exciting museum collections is in the statue building on the 4th floor, which decorated with a huge collection of gold and foreign ceramics. The museum design is also unique, because the visitors will be confronted with historical objects, like statues when entering the room.
The ticket price is very affordable or only Rp 5,000 for adult and Rp 2,000 for children. While for group, minimal 20 people, the ticket sold at Rp 3,000 for adult and Rp 1,000 children.
He continues the museum opened on Tuesday-Thursday at 8 AM-4 PM and Friday at 8-11.30 AM. Then for weekend, he opens the museum at 8 AM-5 PM on Saturday and 8 AM-4 PM on Sunday. "We close on Monday and religious holiday," he told.
Sri, one of visitors admitted that she has several times visited the museum because she wanted to introduce Indonesian culture to her children. "Incidentally, my children had a homework from English teacher and was asked to interview the native speakers about this museum," he said.
