Jakarta Provincial Government is committed to fix the bus rapid transit (BRT) system through PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta). The service is not only improved on corridor track but also on regular track.
I want to fix BRT. You can see that we have bought many buses lately
Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama disclosed his party continues to encourage the public transport entrepreneurs to join with PT Transjakarta. That is one way to develop the BRT service.
"I want to fix BRT. You can see that we have bought many buses lately," he stated, at City Hall, Friday (10/7).
City Focuses on Development of Bus Rapid TransitHe prefers to buy the domestic bus than import which aims to increase the domestic economy. "We plan to test out bus type double XL, I just want to know which one is better," he exclaimed.
His party also has booked 150 lower deck buses. These buses will replace regular transports such as metromini, kopaja, kopami and koantasbima.
"That's why we continue to invite the entrepreneur to join us, we will pay them with rupiah per kilometer. Because the lower deck bus is a lot to replace," he expressed.
Basuki admitted that he prefers to develop BRT, because it is deemed faster to solve transportation problem in Jakarta. Nevertheless, the rail-based transportation mode development such as Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) remain run. "Indeed they need time but still built," he uttered.
