Police Found 4,500 Ecstasy Pills in Stadium Discotheque

As many as 600 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 4,500 ecstasy pills, and 55 happy five pills were found in the lockers of Stadium Discotheque, Taman Sari, West Jakarta, when the ranks of City Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate searched the area. The raid was conducted following the death case of a policeman from Minahasa Selatan Resort Police, North Sulawesi, Brigadier II JVG (22), due to drugs overdose in the nightclub on Friday (5/16).

City Police Public Relations Division Chief Sr. Comr. Rikwanto disclosed that based on the investigation results, one of the lockers belong to the nightclub’s security officer. “We’re currently hunting the nightclub’s security officer. Those lockers were rented to drug dealers to store drugs.
Besides drugs, we also found a Baretta gun, but we don’t know yet its owner ,” he stated, Tuesday (5/20).According to Rikwanto, the police often held operation which done in various ways. “Like silent operation and undercover buy. According to investigation results, we found (discotheque’s) visitors who have consumed drugs from outside, and also there were dealers acting like visitors,” he uttered.
Disparbud: Stadium Closing Should Be A WarningNot just Stadium Discotheque, Rikwanto continued, the police are also targeting several other nightclubs as operation targets. “If we found violation in those places, we will propose to Jakarta Provincial Government to close them down,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, Head of Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department, Arie Budhiman, told that his department has conducted evaluation against nightclubs in the capital city. From the evaluation, it is found out that those places did not perform monitoring and good management, thus drugs trafficking still happened. “They (nightclubs) are officially no longer allowed to operate," he said.
In addition, Budhiman added that his department will also encourage the management of entertainment venues to improve their internal control function. “We have urged to those venues’ management party to improve their internal control function. If violation still found, there will be strict sanction,” he stressed.
