Three Months, Rawa Buaya Flat Construction Stalled

The flat construction in Rawa Bebek, Cakung, East Jakarta, which is intended for workers who earn their living in the Cakung, is stalled about three months. No wonder, there is no any activity in the area, which was already inaugurated by Jakarta Governor, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo with Housing Minister, Faridz Djan and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Hatta Rajasa, in February 2013.

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, in the land as wide as 3 hectares, there are only building frames, fences perforated, and wood also already fragile. In addition, the weeds have started to grow around the land. Nobody workers or project equipments are seen at that location. Whereas, Djan Faridz promised that the flat project would be completed in December 2013.
"I don't know why the project stalled," exclaimed Riya, one of local citizens around the project location, Wednesday (5/21).

The first phase, 6 units were planned to be completed in December 2013 and the rest units in 2014. The project fund reaches Rp 98 billion where one unit will spend Rp 16.3 billion and is able to accommodate 616 single workers. That means, 3,600 workers will occupy in the flat. Its amount is higher than family flat.
One room will be occupied by four workers, with rent cost Rp 200,000 per month (50,000 per person). Yet, it does not include the cost of other public facilities yet.
Head of East Jakarta Housing and Government Building Sub-Department, Yuli Hartono refused to give explanation on the stagnation of Rawa Bebek Flat construction. The reason is the project is not her authority. "Please ask this matter to the department," she explained.
Similar statement was also stated by Head of Flat Caretaker Region III for Jakarta Housing Department, Jefyodia Julian.
