2014 Jakarta Great Sale Festival Set to Begin in June“We’re targeting 500,000 visitors in this event for a month implementation. On weekend, the amount of visitors is predicted to reach 10,000 people. Hopefully the event could accommodate Jakartans’ needs, especially those who are plant and animal lovers,” he stated, Thursday (5/22).
The theme for the 2014 Flona Exhibition is ‘My Green City’. After being opened by the governor, visitors can directly see and enjoy various ornamental plants, herbs, and animals. Ornamental plants will dominate by 80 percent, animal 15 percent, and the rest are other products. There will be also counseling for UKM as well as contests of Antorium, Adinium, Sansivera, and Aglonema, animal lovers gathering, informal discussion, and free consultation on how to pet the animals.
This event is hoped to be an oasis for plant and animal lovers as well as interaction place for farmers, hobbies, observers, and workers in environment sector. That interaction is expected would culminate in the course of buying-selling between them.
For the event’s transaction target, Sunandar hopes the amount would be higher than last year. In the 2013 Flona Exhibition, the total transactions reached Rp 2.6 billion from initial target of Rp 1 billion.
“The transactions this year are expected could be at least the same as last year, or if could, increase,” he said.
Meanwhile, Head of Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department Public’s Roles Section, Heru Bambang, explained that Flona Exhibition has been held for 29 times since 1983 and always takes place in Banteng Square. But next year, the event is expected to be held in each area.
“We’ve thought about holding Flona Exhibition in municipality level, because it can also promote other locations, like Pluit and Ria Rio reservoirs,” he uttered.
