Grogol Riverbank Is Rampant with Illegal Building

Puddles that often happen during rainy season on Jl Iskandar Muda, in front of Gandaria City, Kebayoran Lama is due to overflowing waters of Grogol riverbank. This is because, besides sedimentation, illegal building is rampant on the riverbank.

We are sure they have no building permit. Surely it is impossible, because the building is prohibited built on the riverbank and connecting channel

"We routinely dredge mud at Grogol River. Not long after, rain comes and causes flooding and mud. Then we dredge it. So it is more to maintenance. Normalization is not yet done, because we have to check the trace and city structuring," expressed Holi Susanto, Head of South Jakarta Water Management Sub-dept, Monday (11/28).

Not only that, he continued, public awareness about cleanliness of the riverbank has also worsened the condition. Moreover, there are many of the buildings standing on the riverbank and add narrow width of the flow.
