Ahead of Christmas and 2017 New Year, Jakarta Provincial Government has formed a price controller. It is aimed to anticipate price hike on staple food.

Jakarta Acting Governor, Sumarsono optimizes function of three Jakarta BUMDs to maintain stock of staple food. Those are PD Dharma Jaya, PD Pasar Jaya and PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya. 

"We formed price controller team to maintain price hike on food ahead of Christmas and New Year," he stated, at City Hall, Tuesday (11/29).

The team will cooperate with local producer in supplying foodstuffs. Thus, the availability of food can fit the needs of every day. "This is attempted directly from the producer to Jakarta not through middlemen who make the price so high," he expressed.

They will survey price at all producer areas. It aims to give a comparison of prices will be adjusted with the cost of shipping. Thus the purchase price in the public can be maintained.

Jakarta government will also open cheap market, which is different with market operation at several points. It is to maintain food price from irresponsible peddler.

"The cheap market is different with market operation. Market operation is done if the price has been over 10 percent. Although the price is not yet increasing, but we remain open cheap market. Because if the price has increased, it is difficult to control, this is a preventive step," he uttered.
