Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama denied the allegation saying that he politicized monorail construction project. According to him, the project is hampered not because of political elements, but due to his doubtful feelings of monorail’s management ability to establish the project from business side.
Who politicized the project? This monorail project does not go anywhere, the passengers are not enough. Is the company going to build monorail or taking profit from this property?
According to him, the basic of monorail problem is its unclear passenger calculation business plan that could bring loss to it. He also assessed the monorail management only wanted to have benefits from the property to be built above it.
“

Is the company going to build monorail or taking profit from this property? ” expressed Basuki, Saturday (5/24).Jokowi Does Not Mind Monorail Project Stalled AgainHe is also doubtful about the management ability to build the mass transportation project. This is because they refused the offer saying that the management must be willing to pay fund for as much as five percent as a guarantee if the construction stalled.
“They offered to take 80 percent income from their property, because the benefit from monorail is only for 20 percent. The property of land as wide as 200 square meters is scheduled to be built vertical. This is business, there must be guarantee given to Jakarta Provincial Government if the project stalled,” he stated.
Moreover, Basuki surmised the monorail management wanted to get benefits from Jakarta Provincial Government that pushed his party to give permission, but there is no clear business plan from the management. He also assessed the management wanted to pay all operational funds from received from the property area rent. That is why he doubted the management had enough money to build monorail.
“Generally, if people got five percent of guarantee, they bargained for 0.5 to 1 percent. It means, logically, I doubt you have money. I’m only afraid the monorail construction stalled,” he uttered.
