Ciliwung River Waterway Construction Project Complained by Residents

The construction project of Ciliwung River waterway to East Flood Canal (KBT) on Jalan Otista III, Cipinang Cempedak Urban Village, Jatinegara Sub-District, East Jakarta, is complained by local residents. The resting time of the locals is disturbed because the project is still conducted until 11 PM, whereas the contractor had promised that the project only lasted until 6 PM.

Yes, the contractor has repaired it, but we still asking for the project to be limited until 6 PM, not 11 PM,” asserted Chief of RT 01/04 Cipinang Cempedak, Melia Sari (32), Wednesday (6/4).
Earlier, Sari added, socialization has been conducted in Cipinang Cempedak Urban Village office. But because of the construction effects caused, the residents are asking for re-socialization.
Residents Complained of Ciliwung River Waterway ConstructionHead of Cipinang Cempedak Urban Village, Ali Mansyur, informed that the socialization and notification letter to residents were given two weeks before the waterway construction project started. The socialization was also conducted to the residents who live in Bidara Cina Urban Village and Cipinang Besar Selatan Urban Village.
“The socialization discussed about residents’ lands which will be passed by the waterway channel pipes, as well as the project’s working time and duration,” he told.
Meanwhile, Ari Wibisono, Construction Manager of PT Wika as the project contractor, stressed that his party has repaired the damages in residents’ houses. In addition, PT Wika has also given clean water in torn capacity of 1,000 liters to replace the well water that becomes turbid because of this project.
“If the water still turbid, after the drilling we’ll help (the residents) to make new well. We will change its place to make the water clean. For the mean time, we’ll supply PAM water based on residents’ needs,” he stated.
According to Wibisono, thus far the construction project just finished the displacement of available network utilities, such as optic fibers, clean water pipes, electricity cables, etc.
“We also have socialized the residents. If they ask for socialization again, we are ready. Principally, we ask the residents to be patient for a while, because this project is also for flood handling in the capital city,” he uttered.
