Traffic engineering at intersection of Kebon Nanas, Jl. DI Panjaitan, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, finally applied, Tuesday (3/14). Traffic light at intersection is turned off and access road in middle of the intersection is closed.
If it's effective, we will do it continuously
Based on observations in the field, tens of officers of Jakarta Transportation Dept. along with police are sent to manage traffic flow at the location. The middle of intersection is closed using Movable Plastic Barrier (MPB). Thereby vehicles cannot turn right, either from Tanjung Priok or Cawang.

Head, Andri Yansyah said traffic engineering is applied to parse traffic jam from project of Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu (Becakayu) Toll Road, plus high volume of vehicles that will turn right from in both directions.
"This trial is temporary, we'll see within one week. If it's effective, we will do it continuously," he expressed, when he inaugurated traffic engineering at intersection of Kebon Nanas.
Here is the list of traffic engineering that will be applied at intersection of Kebon Nanas, as follows;
1. From Cawang
- Vehicles heading to Tanjung Priok or vice versa will be directed to go ahead. For those who want to turn right toward Kober Kebon Nanas, must then turn to u-turn in front of Jatinegara Sub-district. Likewise with vehicles heading to Jl. Outista 3, must use u-turn in Penas or Halim Lama.
2. From Kebon Nanas
-Vehicles heading to Jl Outista 3, will be rerouted to turn left toward Halim and use u-turn in Penas toward Otista 3.
3. From Jl. Outista 3
-Vehicles heading to Kebon Nanas, will be rerouted to use u-turn in front of Jatinegara Sub-district, and then continued to intersection of Kebon Nanas and turn left.
To smoothen it, 50 personnel are dispatched to the location. Those consist of Jakarta Transportation Dept., East Jakarta Traffic Region Unit and security officers of Trisakti Transportation Management College.
