TransJakarta Bus e-Ticketing Users still Low

TransJakarta bus passengers’ interest in using e-ticketing is still very low. To attract passengers to buy the electronic card (e-card), TransJakarta Management Unit (UP) has engaged several leading banks in Indonesia. Until the end of this year, all TransJakarta bus passengers are targeted to use e-ticketing.
All TransJakarta bus corridors already have to use the e-ticketing system this year. To achieve this target, we’ve conducted socialization to the passengers for almost a year
Head of TransJakarta UP, Pargaulan Butar-butar, told that his party had to ask the passengers to use e-ticketing because the application of it is constrained by the use of manual tickets. Besides, all TransJakarta bus corridors will implement e-ticketing system, so there will be no longer manual tickets.

All TransJakarta bus corridors already have to use the e-ticketing system this year. To achieve this target, we’ve conducted socialization to the passengers for almost a year ,” he stated, Thursday (6/5).Based on the record, there are only 77,000 passengers who have used e-ticketing. Whereas, by using e-ticketing, the passengers do not need to queue to buy tickets at the counters. Thus, to get the passengers use e-ticketing, TransJakarta UP deliberately closes the ticket counters and just asks the passengers to buy e-cards.
“It’s quite difficult to get the passengers use the e-card, because their awareness is still low,” said Butar-butar.
Currently, of the 220 TransJakarta bus stops, there are only 12bus stops that have been equipped with e-ticketing system. Among those bus stops are PGC, Blok M, and Tamini. It is prioritized that the bus stops in 10 TransJakarta bus corridors to implement e-ticketing system gradually this year. As for the two other corridors, namely Corridor IV (Pulogadung-Dukuh Atas) and Corridor VI (Ragunan-Dukuh Atas), e-ticketing system cannot be applied yet because the infrastructures are not ready.
