Jakarta Hajj Quota This Year Set at 7,891 People

The Jakarta's hajj quota this year has been set at 7,891. It is increasing 2,263 people compared to last year which reached 5,628 people.

"This year we have set hajj quota from 51 becomes 61 people," expressed Saefullah, City Secretary, after a meeting discussion about hajj quota and hajj pilgrimage travel fees (BPIH), at City Hall, Wednesday (5/2).

"Hajj schedule can't be changed. Additional hajj pilgrim is the mandate of Presidential Decree and Ministry Decree," he stated.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Bureau of Education, Mental and Spiritual Head, Hendra Hidayat added, from the initial budget allocation by Rp 3.5 billion, there will be additional about Rp 1.5 billion for BPIH.

"Additional hajj pilgrims and officers has changed the departure shift from 18 becomes 21," he told.

According to him, since 2013, the hajj quota has declined because of the renovation of the Masjidil Haram Grand Mosque in Mecca.

"This year this is back to normal with basic quota by 7,084 plus 807 hajj pilgrims," he closed.
