1,832 Books Conserved at City Public Library

Jakarta Library and Archive Dept. (Dispusip) conserved 1,832 books collection during these last five months. Thus knowledge written in these books still can be seen and studied continuously by young generations.

We can finish 5 to 20 books per day, depending on its level of damage

"We will continue to conserve because whatever its condition, information contained in the book will never be lost by time," said Gigih Primada, Librarian Functionalist of Jakarta Public Library, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Thursday (5/11).

June, 3 Reading Parks in West Jakarta Added

Books that related to history, social, management, accounting, science, and others are dominating the damaged book with total 1,832 books. The damage caused by many people oftenly borrow it. 

"Every damage is directly handled by seven conservation personnel. We can finish 5 to 20 books per day, depending on its level of damage," he said.

He suggested to improve reading room quality in the library of Nyi Ageng Serang Building. Moreover, library is visited by average of 200 people each day.

"Visitors often complaining due to hot room, which actually it is because of building's central air conditioner is broken. We hope to be supported from conservation tools also," he closed.
