Monas Ticket Booths Moved for Visitor`s Convenience

The absence of Monas entrance booths have been suspected to be a trigger in the number of cadgers selling in this area. To solve this, City Tourism and Culture Department will move Monas entrance counter to the front fence, and visitors will be charged Rp 5,000 tickets. This plan is believed to make the area into a safe and comfortable to increase the visitors despite the charge.

Head of City Culture and Tourism Department, Arie Budiman targeted the Monas area to be safe, orderly and comfortable. If it can be created, then the number visitors can rise.

Furthermore, according to Budhiman, sterilizing Monas from cadgers is not impossible. It is ever done at Keraton Festival that was held in the monument some time ago.

"Monas was sterile from cadgers for 5x24 hours at Keraton Festival and the public is happy. If this is done consistently, Monas will be much better," Budiman stated.

To keep the monument remained sterile, the security should be changed in short-term. The security officers should not be from Civil Servants (PNS) and must have certain criteria, in order to avoid another person getting personal profit.

"The criteria of the security must be defined first, and should be trained well. Whether from the army or police, that’s the next question. However, if the security officers are civil servants from municipal police, then it’s still the same," Budiman completed.
