Basuki to Merge Two Monas Technical Management Unit

The acting Jakarta Governor, Basuki T. Purnama, assessed that National Monument (Monas) which is controlled by two heads of Technical Management Unit (UPT), Monas Tower UPT and Monas Park UPT is ineffective.

At this moment, Monas is managed by different heads. it's difficult to control. Later on, one head will manage all Monas area such as park, security, and so on

Jakarta Provincial Government plans to merge both of those UPTs into single UPT. It is aimed to give better management for Monas.

According to him, he must change the governor regulation before implementing this plan.

"The revision will take one week. The meeting will be held on Friday (today)," he added.

For information, Monas is led by two UPTs. Monas Tower UPT manages Monas tower, and Monas Park UPT manages surrounding area. The merging of two UPTs is aimed to sweep street vendors out from Monas.
