Throwing Trash Carelessly, 9 Residents Fined Rp 200 Thousand

As many as 9 residents in Pasar Minggu Urban-Village, South Jakarta were proposed to the court because of light criminal offense (Tipiring), Friday (6/13) . Ninth of the residents were tried because they are still throwing trash carelessly. The trial was conducted to give wary effect to insubordinate residents.

“We keep socialized the prohibition to the residents. But there are still residents ignore it. Satpol PP personnel who guard the area was directly caught them,” said Sajja, Pasar Minggu Urban Village Head, Friday (6/13).

According to him, after being caught, they were asked to go to urban village office. Their ID card and trash were seized as the evidence.

The effort is based on Bylaw No 8/2007 about Public Order. The fine is Rp 50 thousand up to Rp 50 million. "We can't apply the maximum fine, it's based on judge decision," he added.

All residents arrested are the accumulation of operation since June 6. “The Judge only decided Rp 100 to 200 thousands of fines. After paying fines, Identity Card returned with a deal not to repeat their deed again,” Satja revealed.

AA, a resident of Poltangan RT 12/03 Pejaten Timur said that he has been arrested by Satpol PP when throwing trash on Jalan Raya Pasar Minggu. "It's not fair, there were people throwing trash much more than mine, but did not caught. Fine Rp 100 thousand for throwing trash is ridiculous," he admitted.
