Parks in Jakarta Will Be Equipped with Sports Infrastructures

Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaha Purnama plans to make all parks in the city to have active park concept. Besides functioned as green open spaces (RTH), those parks will also function as sports facility with adequate sports infrastructures.

To realize it, Basuki will cooperate with private parties in terms of completing facilities and infrastructures inside the parks. One of those private parties is Coca Cola that will handle Tebet Honda Park.

“We hope the parks with active park concept could Jakartans’ spirits to do sports in order to make healthy life,” stated Basuki when inaugurating Tebet Honda Active Park, South Jakarta, Sunday (6/15).

According to Basuki, Jakarta Provincial Government will acquisition lands and slums to be changed into active parks. But, he requested the residents to maintain the facilities and infrastructures as well as cleanliness of the active parks.

In addition, Jakarta Provincial Government will also revitalize public cemeteries (TPU) in Jakarta. Later, public cemeteries will be equipped with pavements to avoid scary effect and to make it useful for people to do sports.

“As many as 78 cemeteries are currently being revitalized. The tombs are arranged, especially the main gates of the cemeteries,” said Head of Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department, Nandar Sunandar.
