Fails to Achieve Adipura, Lenteng Agung Holds Cleanliness Operation

Because of such concerning fact, Lenteng Agung Urban Village Head, Susan Jasmine Zulkifli, holds cleanliness judicial operation along Ciliwung River together with Satpol PP and Indonesian Army personnel from Special Forces (Kopassus), Monday (6/16).
Locals Protest, Ciliwung's Waterway Project Stagnated“We want to see the illegal trash disposal site (TPS) on Ciliwung riverside at RT 04/02. That TPS will be closed,” she stated.
During this operation, Zulkifli saw many trashes piling on the riverside’s cliff. She even saw a resident threw trash in the illegal TPS where a prohibition sign has been installed, forbidding residents to throw trash in that location. Although the person is caught dumping trash haphazardly, the person is also reprimanded.
“We are still cooperative. But if they were caught dumping trash again, in accordance to the bylaw, they will be fined Rp 50 million or jailed, and their ID cards (KTP) seized,” she asserted.
In that occasion, Zulkifli also urges the residents to dump trash in the locations provided by local authorities.
“Residents have to help us in (maintaining) cleanliness. There are officers who will pick up residents’ trashes once in two days,” she told.
Based on
beritajakarta.com observations, Ciliwung riverside is often used as TPS by the locals who are dumping trashes haphazardly. As a result, many plastic trashes as well as household wastes polluting the river, which eventually could clog water flows and cause flood.
