Allegedly Leaked, Only Few Street Vendors Raided in Monas

The rampant existence of street vendors in National Monument (Monas), Central Jakarta, has made the area becomes slum and chaotic. Therefore, Jakarta Provincial Government is committed to discipline them and is currently looking for solution to evict the street vendors permanently.

I think there was someone tipped about the raid to the street vendors. The indication can be seen from the few amount of street vendors raided

Head of Jakarta Satpol PP, Kukuh Hadi Santosa, said there is no longer tolerance against street vendors in Monas. Moreover, the public has complained due to feel uncomfortable.

“Many people feel uncomfortable with the existence of street vendors in Monas. So, there is no more tolerance, those street vendors must go. We’ll raid them. The raid will be continuous like in Tanah Abang,” he stated, Monday (6/16).

Satpol PP Confiscated Three PKL Charts

Unfortunately, in the raid held at night by 500 joint personnel from Central Jakarta Satpol PP, police, army, Monas security unit, and Transportation Sub-Department, did not run optimally. Allegedly, the raid was leaked because the officers only secured tens of stalls and items. Luckily, the raid ran smooth without protest from the street vendors.

I think there was someone tipped about the raid to the street vendors. The indication can be seen from the few amount of street vendors raided. But, I don’t know who that person is,” uttered Head of Central Jakarta Satpol PP, Yadi Rusmayadi.
