Petamburan Residents Take Advantage of KBB Land for Agriculture

Residents living in RW 01, Petamburan Urban Village, Central Jakarta are utilizing a land on the banks of the West Flood Canal of Jalan Jati Pinggir for agriculture. Various productive crops are planted on the 4,000-square-meter width land.

Previously the land was full of garbage

"Previously the land was full of garbage. Then we cleaned them. And now we use it by planting vegetables and fruits. There are also catfish pool with a capacity of 60,000 fishes," expressed Asda (53), Chairman of Petamburan KBB Farmer Group, Monday (8/14).

According to him, a number of vegetables planted are long beans, corn, chili, pare, tomato and corn. "The harvest can be utilized by the people. And the important thing is the land is free of garbage," he stated.

Petamburan Urban Village Head, Parsiyo gives his full support to them in farming. The support itself makes the farmer group often gets seeds assistance from Central Jakarta KPKP Sub-dept.

"In the meeting, we always promote their activities to the city government. No wonder, we get support by many and assistance such as fish seeds, fertilizer until vegetable seeds," he closed.
