Djarot Inaugurates Batik Semanggi Kita Exhibition

Jakarta Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat, inaugurated batik and handicraft products exhibition with theme "Semanggi Kita" (Our Semanggi) in one of the shopping centers on Jalan Asia Afrika, South Jakarta.

Djarot disclosed that it was aimed to encourage Jakartans to donate their creativity and be creative in issuing local handicraft products.

Batik Parade will Be Held in Jakarta

"It will promote icons of Jakarta through local craftsmen. Many young people to be creative," he expressed, Thursday (8/17).

He stated that Jakarta Local National Craft Board (Dekranasda) could guide local batik craftsmen to be able to compete in national and international markets.

"This opens up opportunities for people who have been guided to make better creations and can perform here. We really encourage them to be diligent," he asserted.

Herein, there were various batik products presented using the illustrations of four-leaf clovers and line markings on the road of Jakarta. The motif was inspired by Semanggi Bridge.

In that occasion, the event was attended by Assistant for Jakarta Development and Environment, Gama Sinurat; Jakarta Bina Marga Dept. Head, Yusmada Faizal; Jakarta KUKMP Dept. Head, Irwandi; Jakarta PKK Team Chairperson, Happy Farida and her partner, Rusmiati Saefullah.
