Digging Projects Make Roads in Central Jakarta Damaged

Some digging projects of water and fiber optics belong to major companies makes the roads in Central Jakarta damaged, namely Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jalan Kesehatan, and Jalan Fachrudin. In addition, several manhole covers are also damaged, thus leaving big holes around the project locations. Road users are complaining this condition because it endangers their lives, especially when passing the locations at night.

There are four types of companies which we’ve sent warning letters, namely gas (PGN), electricity (PLN), water, and telecommunication

Responding this matter, Head of Roads Maintenance Section for Central Jakarta Road Public Works Sub-Department, Agustio Ruhuseto, admitted that his party has sent warning letters to those companies.

“There are four types of companies which we’ve sent warning letters, namely gas (PGN), electricity (PLN), water, and telecommunication. Telecommunication is the most (often makes roads to be damaged), because their fiber optics work is so many,” he stated, Thursday (6/19).

Bridge in RW 02 Cibesel Repaired

Meanwhile, Head of Network Utilities Facilities and Infrastructures Section for Central Jakarta Road Public Works Sub-Department, M Nofiansyah, disclosed that from hundreds of warning letters sent, there are some companies totally ignored it.

“The cooperative one is PGN. Unfortunately, Road Public Works Sub-Department can only send warning letter. What if it was not responded? Should we wait for casualties first before repair the road? Want it or not, we are the one who repair it first,” he expressed.

Even though the digging project is often done by contractor, Nofiansyah hopes for related companies to be responsible in supervising the project until finish without any trace of digging remains which can endanger road users.

“We understand that the one doing the project in the field is the contractor. But, those major companies should have been able to control the contractor to repair the damaged roads. There should be supervisors, not only to supervise their network, but also to supervise damaged roads repair. They must be responsible for the damages caused. This is dangerous, cannot play around,” he asserted.
