Throughway Construction Project in Kelapa Gading Hampered

The construction of throughway that connects Jalan Boulevard Timur with Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan is meeting obstacles. The reason is the existence of 34 buildings belong to residents living in RT 05/02, Pegangsaan Dua Urban Village, Kelapa Gading Sub-District, North Jakarta, that stand between the throughway project.

The residents who live on a land as wide as 4,000 meters insist to stay there because there is no compensation deal yet with the landowners. The land is legally owned by two owners initialed P and L. However, North Jakarta Administration in 2012 has paid the compensation money of the land in accordance to NJOP.

North Jakarta Secretary, Junaedi, said that negotiation is still ongoing with the landowners and residents. In this matter, North Jakarta Administration only acts as mediator to finish the problem immediately.

“Both parties have met yesterday. The landowners offered 20 percent of the 2012 NJOP price, but the residents haven’t accepted it,” he told, Thursday (6/19).

According to Junaedi, the residents have admitted that they do not have legality on that land. However, they demand for compensation because they have occupied the land for dozens of years.

Meanwhile, North Jakarta Mayor, Heru Budi Hartono, hopes the mediation not to be protracted since the impact could potentially make the completion of throughway construction project late.
