Payment for Jabodetabek Transportation Modes to Use One Card

Soon, payment for transportation modes in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) areas will be encouraged to use one card. That card can be used on various public transportation.

Jakarta Transportation Dept. (Dishub) Head, Andri Yansyah said, his side has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) and Bank Indonesia (BI) regarding this program.

"Later on, we want a card that can be used for payment of various transportation modes in Jabodetabek," he said at City Hall, Thursday, (9/7).

Greater Jakarta Transportation E-Payment System Signed

According to him, each transportation modes has its own card, such as PT. KAI Commuter Jabodetabek (KCJ) and PT. Transportasi Jakarta. Transportation modes will be increased after the operation of airport train, fast train, Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT) and others.

"Even in developed countries, that card can be used in minimarket. So citizen does not need to have many cards," he mentioned.

He admitted will keep coordinate with BI to implement this signed cooperation. Hopefully this plan can be realized in the near future.

"We will coordinate with BI," he closed.
