Not Having Permit, Luxurious Condotel in Kemayoran Sealed

The building was initially an apartment, then changed into hotel (without permit). We never issue permit if there is no deformation analysis

Jakarta Building Control Department sealed a luxurious condominium hotel (condotel) on Jalan Raya Benyamin Sueb, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Friday (6/20). The condotel named Best Western Grand Palace Kemayoran is sealed because of the owner recklessly operates the hotel although the deformation document from apartment into hotel has not been processed.

“ The building was initially an apartment, then changed into hotel (without permit). We never issue permit if there is no deformation analysis . They (building owner) had operated although has no permit. That’s why we sealed the building,” stated Head of Jakarta Building Control Department, Putu Indiyana.

Meanwhile, Head of Legal Best Western Grand Palace Kemayoran Hotel, Maruli Siregar, told that the sealed building is tower D which still under renovation process from 21st floor to 31st floor. He denied if said the building was sealed due to its permits have not been processed.

“It’s not that we haven’t processed the permits, all has been processed. The only permit left is the Regional Retribution Decree (SKRD) which still has not finished since processed in last November. I think this sealing would affect to our promotion, because candidate consumers would wandering why,” he uttered.

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, the sealing in the size of 1x1.5 meters is mounted beside the hotel’s gate. The red board reads the building is sealed because it has violated Bylaw No. 7/2010 and Governor Regulation No. 128/2012.

Chaos had happened between reporters and the hotel’s security officers. It began when the security officers prohibited reporters to take photos from outside the building. Luckily, the situation can be controlled after one of security coordinators met with the reporters and did mediation.
