Hundreds of Concrete Blocks on Jalan Kapuk Raya Damaged

Hundreds of concrete blocks used to cover water channels on Jalan Kapuk Raya, precisely at RW 03, 11, and 12, Kapuk Urban Village, Cengkareng Sub-District, West Jakarta, are damaged. This condition is jeopardizing the pedestrians because there are many gaping holes.

Melik (55), a resident of RW 12 Kapuk, told the damages have happened since two year ago. Those concrete blocks are damaged allegedly because they cannot withstand the heavy loads of cars parked above the water channels. Some concrete blocks were even gone stolen.
“The amount of damaged and missing concrete blocks along that road reaches hundreds. The water channels are also experiencing siltation, causing water overflowed and flooded the road in just a moment when rain pours. Hopefully the related unit could repair the concrete blocks immediately to prevent casualties in the field,” he uttered, Friday (6/20).

“I’ve coordinated with related unit that plans to normalize the water channels on Jalan Kapuk Raya this year. They will also repair the concrete blocks,” he stated.
When beritajakarta.com contacted Head of West Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department, Paudji, for confirmation, the official did not pick up his cell phone nor reply the short message sent.
