Abnon Theater Held Betawi Theatrical Concert at TIM

Jakarta Abang None (Abnon) Theater held Betawi Theatrical Concert entitled 'Babe, Muka Kampung Rejeki Kota' at Graha Bhakti Budaya Building, Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Jl. Cikini Raya, Central Jakarta.

This is the story of Benyamin S. based on his biography titled 'Muka Kampung Rejeki Kota'

Theater Performance Producer, Maudy Koesnadi said, this Abnon Theater is non-profit organization that accommodates former and current Abnon. This year's event is the tenth performance.

"This is the story of Benyamin S. based on his biography titled 'Muka Kampung Rejeki Kota' written by Laudy Cahyana and Muchlis Suhaeri in 2005,"  she said, Thursday (9/14).

She admitted, Benyamin S. story is selected because his figure as artist and Betawi figure who preserved Betawi culture in the midst of development eras. That is the reason his figure becomes the symbol and exemplary role model for generations.

Jakarta Tourism and Culture Dept. (Disparbud) Head, Tinia Budiarti appreciated that event. According to her, combination between contemporary theater and lenong is the real example in preserving Betawi culture.

"Until today, we are still struggling to care and preserve Betawi culture. I appreciate its efforts to express Betawi culture through lenong," she explained.
