October 8, Sidewalk Project at Thamrin-Sudirman Launched

Jakarta Provincial Government is going to launch an 8.3-kilometer sidewalk revitalization at Jalan Thamrin - Sudirman on Sunday (10/8).

The declaration will be made festive thus the public can understand the development plan.

Jakarta Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat said, launching is done at Jalan MH Thamrin, in conjunction with the implementation of Car Free Day. Besides presenting entertainment, a series of launching activities is also filled by dialogue.

"In the dialogue, we will invite various elements, including bike community, Organda, online motorcycle taxi and so forth," he stated, Monday (9/18). 

He explained, restoration would widen the sidewalk from 8 to 15 meters. The sidewalk floor will be designed to use Betawi ethnic culture and the hall off fame of a number of sports figures.

The building owners will also not be able to utilize the front of the building that has sidewalks as access to entry. They were asked to prepare access to enter from the side and back of the building.

Later on, the sidewalk will be completed with a bike track and a bike rental. By so, after getting off the mass public transport, passengers can rent bicycles along the sidewalk to the office.

"The launching will be made festive thus the public can understand the development plan. According to the target, the development must be completed prior to the 2018 Asian Games," he closed.
