Betawi Puppets Staged at Wayang Museum

The Betawi wayang golek, Sundanese three-dimensional wooden puppets is staged at Wayang Museum, Kota Tua area, Pinangsia Urban Village, Taman Sari, West Jakarta.

Staging storyline is thematic

Wayang Museum Service Unit Staff, Sumardi expressed the puppet show is a form of live entertainment to the visitors. In addition, it also becomes a form of preservation and education provided to tourists who come.

"Staging storyline is thematic. All stories have moral morale related to character," he stated, Sunday (10/22).

According to him, adult visitors must pay Rp 5 thousand, college students Rp 3 thousand, and school students Rp 2 thousand.

"Every Sunday we can attract 30 thousand visitors," he explained.

Betawi Lenong Wayang Master, Reza Purbaya stated he has often performed staging puppets.

"The stories are varied, including Si Jampang Betawi performed today," he expressed.

Meanwhile, one of museum visitors, Siti (40) admitted, she was pleased to be able to watch traditional Betawi performances.

"I am very enthusiastic and grateful there are still art workers who care about wayang art," she closed.
