Non-Permanent Satpol PP's Salary Increased to Rp 5 M

This means we will be rewarded for achievement. But sanction would cast to us if our performance was not good

Hundreds of Jakarta Satpol PP status as a non-permanent employee (PTT) came to the City Hall building, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, Thursday (7/3) afternoon. They ask Acting (Acting) Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama to promote their status as civil servant.

In that occasion, 10 representatives of Satpol PP met Basuki in the office room. Unfortunately, Basuki could not realize their demand. Yet he would improve non-permanent Satpol PP's welfare by rising salary equivalent to the necessities of life in the capital.

City to Improve Elderly's Health

"We'll rise non-permanent Satpol PP's salary up to Rp 5 million per month," said Hermansyah, one of representatives, at City Hall, Thursday (7/3).

Hermansyah revealed that city administration will also implement a system of reward and punishment for thousands of non-permanent Satpol PP personnel in carrying out their duties. "This means we will be rewarded for achievement. But sanction would cast to us if our performance was not good," he expressed.

He furthered the non-permanent Satpol PP's duty will become heavier, where its working system would be made the same with police. "We shall report the situation via cell phone every day as our duty evidence," said the man who has worked as Satpol PP since nine years.

He assessed Acting Jakarta Governor refused Satpol PP's request in order to prevent a sense of injustice for other personnel all over in Indonesia. Currently, as many as 74 thousand of personnel status are non-permanent in Indonesia. From that amount, 1,885 out of them are in Jakarta.

"Mr. Basuki would never grant the request until he became a president. The reason is to avoid a sense of injustice among Satpol PP personnel in Indonesia. Besides, there is no law to promote us as civil servant," explained the man who is currently serving in Penjaringan, North Jakarta.

Hermansyah added that Mr. Basuki also allows Satpol PP personnel to resign if they refuse the decision. "Mr. Basuki says just resign if you (Satpol PP personnel) refuse my decision. But if you agree, I will rise your salary," he added.

As known, as many as 1,885 non-permanent Satpol PP personnel are coming from five municipalities. They were recruited in 2005-2009 and then re-recruited by city administration in 2004.

For years, the non-permanent Satpol PP personnel's salary is lower than civil servant. Every month, they only receive Rp 2,189,000 plus additional income allowance (TPP) amounting to Rp 1 million. Yet, it is paid at a particular time does not, thus they often owe money.
