Central Jakarta Fire Dept Trains Residents to Prevent Fire

As an effort to press fire cases, Central Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department gave trainings to local residents. The activity involved five firemen and joined by 50 residents who were randomly chosen from each sub-district in the municipality. With this effort, the residents are expected would be able to extinguish fire themselves while waiting for firemen to come.

In Central Jakarta there are many narrow locations which hard to be reached by fire trucks. That’s why we give the residents understanding on causes of fire and first aid to fire victims if firemen haven’t arrived yet

Head of Central Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department Operational Section, Sudarno, said Central Jakarta has a demographic condition that is dense with population and narrow neighborhoods. That is why the local residents must have knowledge to prevent fire as well as to give first aid to fire victims.

“In Central Jakarta there are many narrow locations which hard to be reached by fire trucks. That’s why we give the residents understanding on causes of fire and first aid to fire victims if firemen haven’t arrived yet,” he stated, Friday (7/4).
