Proposed Naming of Jalan AH Nasution Still Being Reviewed

Jakarta Provincial Government is still reviewing the naming of Jalan Abdul Haris (AH) Nasution for Jalan Mampang Prapatan Raya and Jalan Buncit Raya connecting Jalan HR Rasuna Said that connects Jalan HR Rasuna Said to Jalan TB Simatupang, South Jakarta.

Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan said the naming proposal was previously already conveyed by Nasution Family Association (Ikanas) towards South Jakarta Mayor, Tri Kurniadi. But, until now, no decision has been made.

"It is still being discussed," he stated, at City Hall, Wednesday (1/31).

Naming of Jalan AH Nasution is Appreciation for Hero Services

On January 18, 2018, he explained, South Jakarta Mayor issued South Jakarta Mayor Instruction No. 3/2018 on the Implementation of Study and Socialization of Road Name Change. It is asked the regional head to review the road-naming plan.

"The process is still to ask for feedback, response, and suggestions on the proposed change of the road name, including, inviting local RT and RW," he told.

In addition, review is also done by Consideration Board that consists of Development Assistant, Government Assistant, City and Environmental Arrangements Bureau, and Mayor.

"I affirm, there is still no official decision from Jakarta Provincial Government," he stated.

He also plans to revise the Governor's Decree No. 28/1999 on Guidelines for Determination of Road, Park, and Public Building Names in Jakarta. It is because the replacement or construction of a road name should involve people participation.

"We need to hear input from culturalists, historians, public figures, and urban planning expert," he stated.
