The East Jakarta General Election Monitoring Committee (Panwaslu) revealed the enthusiastic level of East Jakarta citizens to cast their voting rights in the Presidential Election yesterday is higher compared to last legislative election. Evidently, only 3 percent out of 1,923,948 residents are unlisted on the Final Voters List (DPT) thus they do not use their voting rights or abstain. Those spread in 10 sub-districts.

Head of Law and Handling Division for East Jakarta Paswanlu, Ahmad Syarifudin disclosed it is caused by some factors. One of them is they do not process the A5 form. "Another cause is some citizens unlisted in the election, whereas they registered in legislative election on April 9. As a result, around 3 percent voters are abstain," he explained, Thursday (7/10).

He said that another finding is there are people do not vote at 12 PM at the polling station (TPS) due to prohibition from the voting committee (KPPS). As a matter of fact, the voting deadline is until 1 PM in accordance with the rules. Because of the KPPS's understanding is still low, making people cannot cast voting rights.

"The KPPS argued he holds on the technical guidance manual (bintek) belongs to East Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU). Thus the confusion is inevitable in the field and cause people cannot vote," he told.

He mentions locals should be able to vote by showing the e-ID card. Such findings have been reported to East Jakarta KPU, yet the Panwaslu has yet to give any recommendation to KPU, but only a note. It is conducted to avoid similar case.
