Basuki: I want Jakarta to Host 2018 Asian Games

Acting Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama has proposed Jakarta as the host of the 2018 Asian Games. "I propose Jakarta to host the 2018 Asian Games," he expressed, at City Hall, Friday (7/11).

Hence, the man who is familiarly called as Ahok hoped if Jakarta was chosen as the host, he wants there would be infrastructure improvement for sports facilities, especially the Bung Karno Stadium.

"We hope the central government could upgrade the sport facilities. This is because, the Bung Karno Stadium has not been renovated totally," he stated.

Jakarta Provincial Government, Basuki also hoped the BMW Stadium, North Jakarta, can be renovated as soon as possible. "I also have asked Mr. Ratiyono (Head of Jakarta Sports Department) to renovate the BMW Stadium, thus it can accommodate 80,000 people," he expressed.

He also explained, another factor to smoothen the Jakarta to become the host of the 2018 Asian Games is availability of a good mass transportation.

Therefore, the construction of mass rapid transit (MRT), Light Rapid Transit (LRT), train Outer Ring tracks, and city bus system can already be operated in 2016 or 2017. "Hopefully, six toll roads construction can be completed soon," he explained.
