Sandi Opens Halal Tourism FGD

Jakarta Vice Governor, Sandiaga Uno opens Halal Tourism Focus Group Discussion (FGD) at City Hall, Jl. Medan Merdeka Selatan, Gambir, Central Jakarta.

We target one million of global halal tourism to visit Jakarta in these five years

He is very welcoming this FGD and hopes number of visitors to Jakarta will be increased. "We target one million of global halal tourism to visit Jakarta in these five years," he stated, Wednesday (3/7).

Based on Global Islamic Economi Report 2015-2016 data, he explained, there are five countries that becomes Halal Travel Indicator. Those are Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Thailand, and Jordan.

Vice Gov. Supports Halal Destination in Jakarta

"We should grab our chance. This will be our challenge in enhancing tourism sector. Halal tourism concept can be applied in some tourism destinations such as Kota Tua, Seribu Islands, and Setu Babakan," he explained.

He added, halal tourism concept in Jakarta should be able to open more job opportunities, then support economy growth, public participation, and local wisdom such as Betawi culture. "Its implementation must also concern about economy, social, and cultural factors," he added.
