PMKS in W. Jakarta Decreasing Up to 50 Percent

West Jakarta Administration's policy that spreads 40 officers at a red light, is proven effectively to dispel the people with social welfare problem (PMKS), especially beggars. During Ramadan, its existence has dropped drastically up to 50 percent.

Previous years, the existence of PMKS in West Jakarta is very rampant. But it began to fade away when we sent officers in PMKS-prone areas

Head of Service and Rehabilitation Section for West Jakarta Social Sub-Department, Ronny Cahyana disclosed his sub-department managed to dispel the PMKS in red light junctions, such as Cengkareng, Grogol, Slipi, Latumenten, Grogol Terminal and Kalideres Terminal. Before policy is issued, he could secure 100 beggars.

"Previous years, the existence of PMKS in West Jakarta is very rampant. But it began to fade away when we sent officers in PMKS-prone areas," he told, Wednesday (7/16).

More Than 6,000 PMKS Netted Along Ramadan

According to him, Cengkareng's red light junction is previously always crowded by beggars, but now it already sterile.

"Our target is beggars who often operate in citizen residential. We also have coordinated with Satpol PP to evict them," he stated.
