Maritime Museum Holds Pinisi Boat Photos Exhibition

From May 15 to July 25, 2018, Maritime Museum holds Phinisi Boat photos exhibition and 'The Long Story Behind Pinisi Creation' event in Bahari Museum's Pamer Temporer Room, Jl. Pasar Ikan, Penjaringan, North Jakarta. Pinisi is indigenous sailing boat of Bugis tribe, South Sulawesi, Indonesia that explores the worldwide since 14th century.
Those 30 photos in this exhibition is taken in different angles by two Indonesian photographers named Denny Yuriandi and Dede Prianna
Jakarta Maritime Museum Unit Head, Sri Kusumawati said Pinisi Boat has two main masts with seven screens on it. In detail boat's muzzle, two screens in front and two screens on the back of the ship. The exhibition features 30 temporary photo collections of Pinisi Boat.

Disparbud will Provide Collection's Replicas at Maritime MuseumBeside photos, there are also other artworks on display such as wood carvings, ropes used on boats, paddle and steering that commonly used in Nusantara typical boats.
"This exhibition is also held for educational purpose," she added.
She explained, her side targets 6,000-7,000 visitors during the exhibition.
"Until now, it is mostly visited by students and foreign tourists," she conveyed.
